    I'm such a plum, fitting = fighting.

I wasn't saying that the ECU will blow up.

What I meant was that if the lead is on the ECU will try and adjust the tiing as you swing the distributor.

Ahh, cheers. I take it when you turn the ig off and on it`ll just go back to normal then?

Does the idle control affect the timing as well?

Keith I don't understand what you mean by " ignition on/of it will go back to normal"?

Not directly, but by removing the red/black wire it stops the ISV working but also makes the ECU run a static timing.

Just whebn you turn the ignition off, then back on it it starts afresh, doesn`t "learn" like the later type ecu`s. I`ve set the timing to the limit of pinking, starts on the button everytime (better than before!).

WUR is the next mod, will this affect the whole range of fuelling? (ie cock up my idle mixture?), doesn`t really matter as Stealth will be doing that bit :)

No Keith, it doesn't "learn", as ECU's go it's almost an antique ;)

It ran 155bhp at stealth last year, wur untouched at the moment but some don`t need this adjusting (I might due to the cams?). I`ve probably ruined it with the new cams, we`ll have to see! It`s on K-jet, we didn`t get KE-Jet over here on the mk2`s I don`t think. ECU think isn`t really a problem, just when you set the timing undo the red-black lead or else it`ll try and correct itself while you`re moving the dizzy about.

Undo the red-black (as if you`re setting the idle) and re-check the timing, you may be lucky. Have you set it to factory, 6 deg btdc? I managed to get a bit more advance before it pinked.

My girlfriends 2.0 8v stalls alot at low rpm like reversing etc, any
    ideas?

Another mate of mine just had his cambelt on his corrado 1.8 16v let
go and he managed to get a fully balanced bottom end with worked
head etc, i think he said it had forged pistons too, made 160bhp
yesterday on std injection after a setup. It had cams too but the idle
was far too lumpy like yours was, no idea what spec they were tho,
the engine when the previous owner had it, made 220odd bhp before
[apparently] and was running itb's and these cams, must have been
too big for the standard inlet hence the crap running

Should get up to 200bhp with the std k-jet and good setup, the itb`s aftermaket ecu (fueling and injection) will make a big difference though. To be honest with that spec I`d be a little disapionted with 160, depends what torque he managed though?
