Hi wonder if any of you guys can help. I need to check the cam belt on my 16v, feel a prat really as i used to do a lot of work on this car But have'nt for a while. All i need to do is remove the top half of the cam belt cover i removed the 10 mil bolt a couple of inches down from the top but there is a hole further down on the right hand side, cant get a long reach socket in there have now read another manual which says it is an allen bolt if so what size.Ive had this cover off twice in the past but brain fade i just cant remember. Cheers for any info.Bob.

Hi thanks for the detailed info looking at your drawing there only seems to be 1 bolt holding it on.I would think mine was original with the 10 mil bolt as it was only just 3 years old when i bought it with 32k on it but 10 mil or allen it seems it might be the only one holding it anyway thanks again cheers Bob.

there are 2 allen bolts, one thru the side as per the piccy and another round the back. often the one on the back is missing or the hole on the cover is snapped off tho

Neither of mine are Allen bolts, both are hex bolts and not that difficult to access.

They do seem to vary from car to car mines an 87 totally original it only seems to have 1 on the front face by the air box but when i removed it the cover did'nt budge but perhaps it snaps into place. So whats the hole in the cover for surely not to adjust the tension? Anyway cheers lads.
