Just got my renewal through @ 520+ !! i'm touchy thirty soon and the bastids keep putting it up, its on limited milage and classic cars too! If i tell em its gotta cage and racing seats now they'll fall over laughing Anyone had any good experiences with insurance company they can recommend ? [:^(]
HIC 21 Student (was when took policy out) ALL MODS DECLARED!!!! 4500 agreed value track cover Breakdown cover Windscreen cover... 748
Who are you insured with at the moment then, Barny? Sounds like it's an insurance company like Direct Line or something - who do brilliant prices for standard cars, but are not so kind of it's modified.
I can't remember how much I'm paying HIC to insure my 16V on a limited mileage policy, but I'm sure it was just one hundred and something. Stupidly cheap.
Apparantly their quotes are going up because of a huge claim from a Cossie owner killing several people and parylising 1 other...
Their quotes go up cos they changed theyre undies !! Any old bull to make themselves look good. FFs its a 16 year old car with a green wing !
Tesco's Insurance chargd me 10 extra to insure a Mk3 16v over an 8v. Tis still at 720 but for a 23 year old who's recently written off a car I reckon that's pretty decent.
I've been with HIC for the past 4 yrs and never had a problem with them until this year. I was paying 500 tpft last year on my 2.0l, agreed value of 4500 and 3 yrs no claims. They now want 570 tpft on a completely standard mk2 with 4 yrs no claims I spoke to them regarding why my renewal was so much and they said "because one of our clients has had a large claim - 1,000,000 personal injury claim". Their customer service is utter poo as well!
Well, I think I am due to renew my insurance at the end of this month, and it sounds like I might be moving away from HIC then. I hope I don't end up in one of those nightmare situations where I have to wait six months to get the no-claims proof from them, or they keep sucking money out of my account, or something.
im 20 on a modded mk3 16v, splits, eibachs, exhaust, filter, leather, fully comp, with 2 other driver 1100 with adrian flux
Barny -- i think it's true about the cossie mate. I know of 3 or 4 different people told the same all by different people at HIC. Anyway, thats not the point.. i'm getting a deal that was HALF that of any other insurer. They work for me, but not for others.
Claire's with Elephant on the R32 (worth 20k+),Her insurance is about the same price as I pay Privelige on the mk2 (worth f*ck all) Edited by: G_V_K
Barny - have you tried Brentacre? My 16v is pretty standard but it's on a modified policy with them 'cos it's lowered a bit and so I can change it in the future. They seem to offer very good deals for CGTI members particularly, I'd give them a go. My Polo is on a classic policy with HIC, looks like I might not be renewing with them from what I've just read here though...
I phoned HIC this morning asking for my proof of no claims. Their system still shows 1 yr instead of 4 yrs . Admittedly I only sorted it all out with Highways the other week, but surely their system should have been updated?! I also hope I don't have to wait too long for the letter Top tip when trying to speak with someone at HIC is to ring up a couple of mins before they officially open...got straight through this morning, which makes a change. Guess I caught them off guard Edited by: Lemming
