My Valver currently runs 17 inch Stilautos. Despite the looks, I don't think these allow me to get the most from the car. It seems to run flatter on 17's, accelerates slower and doesn't allow me to corner to its full potential. (Car is fitted with Koni / Eibach setup with Eibach ARBs.) [8D]

I am thinking about going for 15s but they will have to be something a bit different.

Has anyone one made this transition and is it worth it?

Its a white 5dr (stop sniggering at the back!!) so the wheels make the car really.

    What do you reckon?

Absolutely, i changed from 17's to 15's and noticed the difference straight away! especially with acceleration. Change to 15's! one of my mates has 16's on his car, and raced against another mate with the exact same car civic vti at crail, thought he was running 15's and won every time, even though they swapped car's.... and thats from 16's to 15's!

    A MILLION TIMES BETTER --

    Better acceleration -- self explanitory.
Better top speed -- Although in theory your 17's will give a higher top speed, the screwed up gearing it bring means you will struggle to gt to that speed, you will get there easier and quicker on the 15's
Better Handling -- It's such an amazing difference.. far nicer car to drive with loads more grip and cornering speed.
Cheap tyres -- i can get a full set of 15's for the price of 1.5 17's!

    totally agree!

plus your speedo's doesn't read as incorrect! i was always paranoid about going past speed camera's with 17's

Your speedo is probably more accurate on 17's TBH... your speedo will naturally over-read.

I have to admit 15`s are far better, even though I prefer the look of the 17`s. Still got the 17`s for special occasions!

i liked my old car on 17's but would never go more than 16's top.

Excellent, well I can't doubt such knowledgable opinion so the hunt is now on for some 15s which are as I said " a bit different" 3 spokes all the way ;)

I think I'll get the 17s refurbed and either sell them or keep them for special occasions.

Thinking of this with mine, With the 17s on I only managed just over the tonne [:^(] and recently I've been running around on the standard 14in steelies and on the way to UVD I got it up to 110 quite easily. (private test track ;) )

Gonna see if I can get Polo wheels now. :p [:^:]

A "nice" set of 15s would be nice. ATSs maybe. Hmmmm

15's are a tiny bit big for the mk1 imho, but look very nice. On the mk2 15's are the sweet spot.

    My mk1 on 15" BBS RA's...
