Borrowed from a well known mk4 site! (did quick search on here, but soz if repost). here pretty outrageous for a public road tho!
Is it standard? 170 mph is mighty impressive for 240 bhp!!! That's what I'm told would be the top speed of my S4 if I ever tried
I doubt that's a genuine 170mph. The faster you go, the more inaccurateyour speedo gets. It will always read faster than what you're actually doing. The Civic Type R, my last car, was well known to read off the clock at maximum speed at 160. It's actually doing 146. That Golf was probably pushing on 150 more like.
Err yes, I suppose most people on here know by now that speedos are inaccurate at such speeds Claimed top speed of stock R32 is 153mph.... Who knows what mods it's got??, a raised rev limiter to 7400 as my gf's R32 has would increase it, given it had a long enough road or of course a steep enough downhill! Still, looks impressive to see the speedo wound round that far. I think that video was taken on a very very long road leading to Las Vegas in the states, was a thread on Vortex about it, obviously questioning it's authenticity hmmmm HGP Turbo. http://www.hgp-turbo.de/ Yes, that's a turbo'd 4motion doing 320km/h (180+mph) Edited by: GVK
in the slow lane doing 160mph Is your R32 modded to 270bhp Gary by AmD ? If so it must quite a beast...should have very good power to weight for a heavy car. How's the brakes after the Ring ?I'm about to order the ECS brake kit for mine which is a 2 piece kit bells and rotors using Porsche callipers via JBR. The 2 track days I've done so far in the MKIV has melted the FNS CV boot twice.....need serious heat dispersal I see alot of sl*gging off on the MKIV forum about the new MK5 R32...very plane compared to the MKIV which looks far more special. Ian
It's not mine Ian, I just drive it when I'm allowed to Claire's has the AmD remap and Miltek cat-back exhaust, they claim 270bhp, but I don't think it's that much, she went on Janspeed's rollers the other week and it was 208bhp at the wheels and 215lb/ft at the wheels, AmD reckon they have over 70bhp transmission losses, so go figure. Brakes were grumbling noisily after 3 corners on the first lap of the 'ring, but thats as bad as they got,was a bit of pedal vibration which has since sorted itself out ( pad transfer) and we finally got through the original front pads (they've lasted 30k) Changed them when we got home. Brakes never went off and I was lapping mostly in the mid 9 minute area, traffic permitting. I was in two minds if it was a good idea taking the R32, but I have to say I really enjoyed driving it on the 'ring, totally different to the mk2 in the way you can't just throw the R32 around and lift off oversteer to tighten the line, need to drive as smooth as poss. It sounds quite good too.
note that he said the original figure in kph. so that means it was probably be in germany? so the other side of the road? so the wagon is in the slow lane?
guys , i may be from N Ireland , but im not as dumb as u think.......i know its in the slow lane ....i was takin the p1$$ ffs.
