Thi is my new ride, just got rid of my 16v gti mk3 and got this... It's good fun but I want a pick up really
Sold my stage two one last month, nice cars and a much better buy than a Mk4 golf I just never bonded with it so cant say I miss it at all, do miss the dent in my wallet it left thou.
ha ha, similar train of thoughts as me. i prefer it than a mk4 and boy does it put a dent in your wallet, fuel wise and things going wrong wise...coilpacks, bottom end, turbo, boost pipes, dump valve list goes on....
my mk4 20vt manages 30mpg combined and thats with crap traffic. they can be really frugal when everythings sorted
I get between 32-36 all the time Motorway and long journeys I see 40-42. Best ever was 48mpg on the way to Norfolk.
best i ever got was 36mpg on a long run to yorskhire doing 60mph all the way. could wait to get off the M1, felt like it was never going to end.
Yeah it is. It probably is fibbing, but it keeps me happy. It doesn't do too badly on the fuel though!
I always thought mine wasnt right doing anything from a calculated 15mpg if Id stuck a tenner in to go for a drive up the malverns going up to 32mpg if I really tried hard with no boosting on a motorway run, really did need a better map on there thou. Mk2 2.0 16v k-jet did a calculated 42mpg going to combe and back, 2 passangers and sitting between 4-5000rpm due to the 3.9fd, old technology ftw.
