    Update:

Just to recap this car stopped in 1997 due to the fuel lines rusty or corroded and the fuel accumulator I thought was faulty. It didnt make the click noise with the ignition on.

Anyway since then is has been totally neglected (my fault) and the body work is in a bad way. The shell might be salvageable though. I will show pictures when I have become a member.
Its gunmetal grey (I think) and the twin headlight version) 1983.

    Today:
After spraying oil in the cylinders connected battery and turned the car over on the ignition (the only electrics that now work)
    Plugs spark.
    Oil level fine
Coolant system drained and flushed out to clear. (now empty) jubilee clips had to be dremeled off.
So I have spark, compression just need fuel !

I loosened all the bolts around fuel filter and distributor.
I have thus for the first time understood where the fuel lines go at the front.

    SO:
I think I at least need fuel lines to the front banjo bolts and to the rear to the fuel accumulator and tank.

I intend to get stuck in later or tomorrow to reveal the situation at the rear, re accumulator , pump , tank, lines. This something that stopped me in my tracks in 1997.

    Issues:

-Need a cheap wheel with tyre to move car about. (3 others are just about ok and stay up for a day)
I have 4 original wheels but dont want to spend on tyres etc at this point.
the car is outside and under a cover.

-Clutch mechanism has gone through the bulkhead due to a bit rusty at that exact point.
I am not a welder (I might have to learn and am ok to do that to get this project going)
BUT is there a way to bodge this for now for phase 1 ,simply to check workings.
    Liquid metal ?
Has anyone got any ideas ?
Ill put up pictures when i can -- but it is simply a 3" dia hole and the rest around that is good metal.

    Jobs:

Still to sort the fuel delivery from tank to fuel filter.

    Update:

-Fuel pump and fuel accumulator off
-Both front seats out one broken as was rusted in and could not get it out

    Q) I put 12v on the fuel pump when out and all I got was a thud ? that is not right I take it ?

    Q) From door lever does not stay in the door properly. It is held in securely with one Philips near the non key end . is there another holder screw ?

    Q) How do I know if the fuel accumulator is faulty ?

Now need to try and take the tank off. It looks impossible to me not having ever done this before.

Also need the fuel lines ? do they come with the correct connectors ?
I need a line at least from fuel tank to fuel filter - in first phase _ to see if it runs.

Finally i have some pictures of the project.

    Work today:

Stripped out to the front console. Carpet, All trim lower half.
Managed to get out stripped and rusted bolt heads and dremel out screw heads. Remember i have only ever restored
motorcycles so this project is a stretch.

    Issues to come:

    Very rusted sunroof
Rust holes - I need to buy a mig welder and do this myslf to make this project doable.

Today I removed the old lines from the fuel accumulator, pump and front area, filter and fuel dist
    revealing the 6mm connectors.
(8mm on one section into the fuel filter - will need a 8-6mm reducer for my nylon fuel line )

In reality they are all push on with the metal compressed seals (i didnt know that) but is clear in the pictures.

    Fuel filter connectors

Anyway with the use of a dremel i have all the connectors as new.

    Now I only need:

-1 fuel pump (although attaching 12v to mine and banging it on the table gets some response - seems to be waking up ?)
-tank to pump hose (i broke it) 5" long * 20mm od , 10-11mm id
-8m of 6mm id, nylon fuel line (cheap to buy)
-8mm - 6mm reducer as the intake to the fuel filter has a 8mm connector (push on)

Routing of the nylon line might be an issue
but I will find out. It will barely cost me much bar the 8m of nylon fuel line to find out.
Also it will at least allow me to test the engine and ignition circuit.
(also you can get bends for the nylon lines)

    Phase 1:
I want to get this engine started - hence me messing about with the fuel lines !
(the engine was always very good - it turns over, has compression and sparks) , coolant system drained and flushed out in readiness)
This will motivate me to continue the project.

If I can take the stress of this project i will buy a welder. I am not a welder but must become one
to make this car acceptable to then take to a sprayers in the end.
I am not bad at preparation like on fuel tanks on motorbikes so the grinding and spraying with a can i can do.

Soon i will show pictures of the rust areas for you to look at .....

Project moth balled for another couple of years. I ralise this is not like a vintage motorbike , this will
cost a fortune and take 3-4 years.
I have just done 2 years on 4 motorbikes and need a rest from mechanics.

Ill return in a few years but at lest the car will be covered and have been consolidated.
Who knows the site might alow pictures by then.

Keep my subscription ! By yourselves a drink !
