Here's my 1984 Golf GTI, which has replaced my previous Atlas Grey MK2 GTI. B335YGK was built in May 1984, so it is quite an early MK2 GTI. It has had 2 previous owners and the mileage is 57K. The paint is original apart from a couple of small areas and the car has never required any welding. The previous owner carried out a very thorough mechanical overhaul over a number of years, using new VW parts where possible, so the car is very tidy underneath. The car is pretty much standard apart from a Votex centre console with VDO gauges and a GTI Engineering steering wheel. The Pirelli alloy wheels are fitted with period Pirelli P600 tyres as the previous owner managed to source an unused set. There are a few jobs to do; the headlining has sagged a bit and the original dealer-fitted radio cassette needs a rebuild, but I feel very lucky to have found such a cosseted example.

That is surely a rare beast in that condition.

What a sweetie, health to enjoy!

Recall your previous red one and what happened to it, doubly good then to see you've made your way back into another... are you tempted to put the Turbo's on this car too?

Thanks, I sold the Zender Turbos last year as I want to keep this one standard. I have the car's original steering wheel and console in case I decide to go OEM inside as well. I would like to get the original P slots restored but can't find anyone that will restore them as original, i.e. painted silver (not powder coat) plus the satin black P's.

Absolutely gorgeous! Have always liked those early 'deckchair' seats.

Yes, me too. I have seen some Recaros trimmed in this cloth and they look amazing.

It was only right you sourced another after the bad luck with your last mars mk2. Looking good, really wish now I kept mine although no where near your standard but still was a decent car.
