I am going to put a 2.0 16v into my 1991 GTI 8v, most likely using a 9A. Which would be the best option, convert the car to k-jet, or to run the engine using the digi fuel injection already installed.
digi mate! more reliable...more parts around in scrappys.... more easily customised in future upgrades.... plus...a couple of people i've spoken too reckon they get smoother performance out of digi... Just interested in how you plan to do the swap with digi... using mk.3 manifolds and injectors? Since my Driver destroyed itself I've been contemplating sticking in a KR engine... but have heard of digi potential and therefore I'm interested in how you get on! Anyway, hope that 2p helps...... Alex
TBH I haven't really though of how I'm going to do it yet if I was to use digi, just playing with ideas at the moment. Has anyone used digi for this kind of setup before?
Dubya, have a look in "THE 2litre 16v thread", pinned in engine section. You might find some answers there mate.
K-Jet is very reliable. Plenty of K-Jet stuff around 2nd hand. Digi requires expensive re-mapping for every future upgrade. K-Jet doesn't. I think K-Jet gives a better throttle response than the digi system.
Since you've already got all the CE2 electrics I'd try and source a complete ABF from a Mk3, apparently in the later digi cars (like yours) the electrics are just plug and play. Retro fitting K-jet seems a bit pointless, to be honest - although tubs does make a good point for it in his post above. If I ever put a 2.0 lump in mine, I'll stick with the K-jet and use a 9a block, as I don't want the hassle of swapping to digi.
