Ive had 5 passat GT's and Im sure they went to a 2.0L on a 'H'plate. (prob find in the odd real late G) I even fitted a 2.0L from a H to my f plate in 4 hours Happy days Paul
Update... there was a H reg passat GT 16v in the scrappy turns out it was a 9A. Unfortunately when we took the head off we discovered the bottom end was useless [:^(]
