Hello everyone. i have just completed the rebuild of my 2.0L 16v ABF . wossner forged pistons, H Beam Rods, ARP Head studs, KR gas flowed head, 13:1 Compression I have to run the engine in first but will then i will get rid of the K-jet and fit 300deg cams and twin 45 carbs. can you please give me the full specification for the jets etc required for the fuelling. The car is used for race applications not road so daily driving is not an issue. also a custom radiator manufacturer
I'd estimate you should be in the 190-210 hp ball park.. so as a starting point, you wont go far wrong with some 38mm chokes to start with. If the initial power reading goes over 200hp (highly likely) then go to 39's. This should get you running... 160-165 or 170 mains 195-200 air's F2 emulsion tubes ("maybe" F16's) 45 or 50 pumps 50 or 55, F8 or F9 idles Final settings will be down to the engines requirements on the rolling road If set "correctly", drivabillity should'nt be an issue anyway.
210 bhp at least I'd think... with that CR and cam set. Mart, did you fit those Newmans to yours yet?
To Man HotGolf give me a ring when you are ready to sell cheers lads thats excellent advise, i am alos going to fit a EDIS unit c/w coil pack and run it on MegaJolt Ignition
Will do in about 2 weeks. Nah not in yet. Having spoken to Newmans, they can't offer any other timing figures than 44-80 80-44. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid, as most other manufacturers like Schrick, Piper, Kent, Crane, Catcams etc offer all sorts of timing figures from degs.@40 lift, lift at TDC overlap which means you can get them set up spot on. The reply from Newmans: you'll have to play about with them on the rollers I also need to order some bigger valves and some other bits and bobs too before I go any further.
Bigger valves on a 16v? There are people with 240-ish bhp on standard valve sizes. You could get the exhaust side re-inserted to use all of the 28mm valve, instead of the 27mm seat that's in there as standard.
Sorry to jump on the thread first I've had the seats re-cut and have multi angles on them with the back of the bowl machined out, and a good mate has a seat cutter to take them out bigger the the new valves. I'll be going black nitrided with wasted stems so will flow that much better again over my std. modified ones. You can only waste them so far before the head pops off and you get some nasty sodium everywhere! lol
Are you fitting throttle bodies? you will have to machine the pistons with the bigger valves, my mate Paul Bargate has just built a 2.1L 16V 9A c/w an Old BRM Big valve head and had problems with valve clearance i think he had 12mm lift on the cams .
I'm running JE's which have a pretty big out out. They'll allow in excess of 6mm of lift at TDC so they'll be fine. I'm only going 0.5mm up in size, but due to the design of the valve it will allow approx 20% more air flow over a standard valve. yeah I'm going bodies. Should be ready in a few months if I get cracking.
Looking at either Megasquirt or Emerald. I've heard Dave Walker is pretty good at setting up which may come free if I buy from him direct. Where as Megasquirt is used by quit a few tuners, as well as my local rolling road. Money is the main issue though. Especially as I really want to get back into mountain biking i need a new toy to go with the Epic!
Hotgolf, what rolling road do you use? I want someone to set up my 2.0 16v on r1 carbs with megajolt...........when its done.
