20vT mk3 golf power steering pump

    So long story short. The mk4 pump was shot. Put my mk3 pump on with mk4 pulley.
    Thought this was originally fine until I shedded an aux belt. Have now noticed the belt stays on the power steering pump but slips off the other two pulleys slightly.
    Hence it shredding aux belt.
    Does this mean putting a mk4 pump back on? So pulleys line back up?
    Any help appreciated.

    usually its a mk2 pump you use, a mk3 pump pokes out a bit further than mk2
