    How much hassle is to to fit a 24V V6 from a mk4 Golf into a '97 Golf VR6?

Can you run it on standard 12V management, engine mounts, driveshafts, etc?

Phatty if you are reading, your opininon would be most welcome

    Cheers Alan

Exactly, I have the chance of buying the Golf and although it drives well it hasn't really been serviced much in it's time, I am just thinking ahead to possibly fitting a 24V engine in and want to know what i need parts wise!

OK i only read the first line of the post..... [:$]

The block fits on the the 12v Gbox but you need to mod the 12v management to work with the 24v hydraulic VV timing AFAIK it just stays in one position..
Grafting the 24V management in should be no more difficult than going 8V to 12V

Haven't seen any wiring diagram of the system but if you search VWvortex you will find some good info to help make up your mind...

Cheers will go have a search on vortex!

I am 99% sure I read somewhere you can run it on the 12V management but can't remember where!

Will pm Paul and see what he says!

same as a 20vt conversion, you will need 24v keys and clocks and ecu all from the same car

    Cheers Prof!

And for my next question, how much is a rough estimate for the parts, chances are I'll buy a complete damaged car through the auctions and sell what I don't need!

Probably similar money as a 1.8T aswell.

The damaged donor car would be a 4motion though - so you could fire that on too [8D]

Pretty certain you can't use 12v management for the reason given by VR6T. Phatty is using r32 management but with Corrado clocks iirc.

G40 AL> I have 24v wiring diagrams if you end up needing them. ;)

revo may do an immobiliser defeat for you, give them a ring, then keys and clocks won't be needed

Mounting it is easy. the 12v mounts fit, as does the thermostat housing and hoses, flywheel, cltuch and 02a box.

oil cooler is an issue, bin it and fit a mocal sandwich plate.

downpipe is a swine. make up a custom one using the 24v and 12v pipes.

I did initially try and run mine on the 12v management, but I gave up when I found out the cam trigger wasn't compatible, so it's not running on the 24v ECU, which isn't a big deal so long as you have the matching keys, clocks and ECU. it's just a case of getting power to it all from your fuseboard and trimming out allt he stuff you don't need.

Don't think REVO will supply an immo defeat on it's own. You'll have to have it REVO'd as well. Life's a sh*tter, ain't it? ;)
