Got the marigolds out to do the jobs I have been postponing.....

When replacing the rubber sump gasket is it a good idea to run a layer of oil on the surfaces like you would for the oil filter?

Just remember leaking sump gaskets on my original engine with cardboard gaskets - would like to "fit-and-forget" ;)

    Thanx

    Next job - coilovers!

You shouldnt really need to mate.

What i do, is leave the gasket completely dry and clean up the sump. That way, if it does leak, you can identify it and cure it.

To cure a weeping sump gasket, i clean the oil off, then smear some super glue (proper wurth suff) on the leak and spray on some activator. I've cured various oil leaks like that!

Any joy with the super glue fix? Might need to try it on my sump.

That doesn't quite sound right some how
