Hi Just a quick question, driving a 1.3 1989 mk2 golf. Auto choke is broke, mechanism have gone. I want rid of the pierberg (2E3) auto choke cos it's not the best anyways. So before diving into a webber, is there any manual choke conversion kits available? Cheers!! Ben.
Yes there is. I might just have one that I bought ages ago; you can have it for nowt as long as I haven't binned it. Edit: Might have been a bit hasty there. Just found the kit. It's a Moprod MAC400 manual conversion kit. But Pierburg 2e3/VW Golf 1.3 isn't in the list of applications. 1B3 or 2B5, and you'd be in business. [:^(] I'm reasonably sure there is a kit that does suit your carb though. Google should sort you out.
Cheers for the effort mate! Much appreciated! Me mate might be able to get me a webber, however google has pulled up this: http://www.sciperformance.co.uk/onlineshopproducts_53353/cat_17428-Manual-Choke-Conversions.html So if no luck is found on the new carb will order a conversion kit. Thanks again pal! Ben.
Decided to go against the conversion and bite the bullet for a weber. Want a new one though, might aswell pay the extra. Vw Heritage are sold out on mine, any other sites that are trust worthy? Cheers.
I've bought from these guys with no troubles before: http://www.webcon.co.uk/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=454&cat=Golf
