Thanks for the support and comments. It actually looks pretty poo in those pics, doesn't do it justice at all! I'll have to take some better ones. I'll move the scabby manifold so you can see the engine better.

Anyway, I AM VERY happy [:D] It feels great to know it's almost done, and I feel really chuffed that everything is clean, new and mint, instead of rounded off, rusty, or cracked like car parts usually are.

No, it's not an 02M, it's the 02C with the Gemini 6 speed.

Downpipe is on now too, so it just needs the coolant system plumbing in (Samco's coming tomorrow I hope) and the manifold one it and it'll run. oh, and the fuel hoses.

Slight setback, one of the camshaft bearing cap studs snapped when torquing it up (2.0kgm my ar5e!!!)

I've got my driveshafts to build up and fit tonight. I made a DIY parts washer last night out of a paint brush and a bucket full of parafin, worked mint! and got all the old grease and sh1t out of the CV joints, they're like new now :-) brand new geuine VAG plastic CV boots all round with stainless steel clips (80 worth!!!!!).

More pics coming soon (any maybe even a sound clip of it with no exhaust on it, if you've never heard a VR6 with an open pipe then you haven't lived...think Ferrai GT car.....)

Anyone who saw my black mk2 towards the back end of the season at York dragway will testify that it is a truly awesome sound.

Hopefully I'l be able to finally drive the f*cker on Sunday! [:D]
