I like what they did with the looks.

Oettinger can add up 100PS to the Golf R through a larger turbocharger, complete sports exhaust system and a modified ECU, boosting output to 400PS (395hp) and 500Nm (369 lb/ft) torque. According to the Germans, with this tune, the Golf R hits 100km/h (62mph) in less than 4.0 seconds, beating the stock model by over 1 second, and reaches a top speed of around 280 km/h (174 mph).

But will it be a great tack tool with the pesky Haldex arrangement? I fear not. Having said that I sure it's a great all rounder for 'most'.
I am in all honesty looking to buy one of these in the near future as an all rounder and perhaps go to stage 1 with a re map in manual guise. Either this or a S3.

Would trade mine in for that , very nice , fun ring wagen
I read about the haldex setup in the VW driver magazine ,sounds much more driver friendly for those wanting to push it and sends loads to the rear if needed

Been to my local dealer today to discuss deals and options.

Will finally have to say bye bye to my MK2 16V (CFJ).

Will put it on here later in the year, PH and Autometrix.

I went to the dealer and they didn't want to discount on the R.

Golf R discounts are good at the moment if anyone is considering one. 10% without any problem.

More through drivethedeal if you aren't concerned which dealer it comes from.

Anyone have some decent links - reviews of the R`s handling / HALDEX performance please ?

Having had a MkIV R32 I would not want similar traits again.

Previous personal experience in a `drivers` 300bhp 4WD saloon is leading me to the new Subaru STI

    Thank you in advance ...

Nice to see the R came on top. God knows how the Fiesta ST made it to third.

Mk7 GTI should of been higher up the list too ;)

    Very tempting...[:x]

The R came out on top in a recent topgear test. The Audi would have won but it caught fire so the Golf took itlol
