Typical starting problem in the cold weather - engine only starts after while of cranking. I've followed the 5th paragraph in the excellent guide from RJ to find that the 5th injector is not spraying and have done these checks: So I've found that... WUR gets fuel pump live (just to double check, only for a second or two while the fuel pump primes?) thermoswitch red/black HAS continuity with the starter motor red/black and gets 9.3 volts on cranking thermoswitch green/white HAS continuity with the 5th injector green/white 5th injector black HAS continuity with the starter motor black AND cold throttle enrichment valve black ...but still no spray from the 5th injector! Does this mean it is goosed? Thanks in advance
It should only come on for a few seconds at most I'd wire a bulb across the plug for the 5th injector And see if it comes on I remember John and I in a thread about how the thermotime switch worked and how to test it http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?189586-16v-temp-sensors&highlight=thermotime+switch
OK, just connected a multimeter accross it and got 0.08v every time I cranked the engine.... I'll have a read of that link now. Thanks for the reply
Just read the link and popped outside to check: green/white PIN of the thermotime switch is earthed when cold and also the green/white WIRES are. I have no idea where to go from here....
