    Hello all,

Been floating round this forum for a while now so thought it was time for my MK2 build thread...

    Story:

Bought it in June 2010 completely standard on P slots with just over 100K on the clock. Was pretty clean apart from a big dent in the drivers door!

So with a new door on, a set of FK coilovers added, some Lenso BSX fake splits & a 16v 256mm brake conversion it was a lot of fun!

Then April 2011 I thought it would be a good idea to buy an accident damaged A3 with an AGU lump under the bonnet.

First job was to strip the engine out the A3 & break/scrap the rest.

With the engine out I noticed there was a bit of oil in with the coolant... Alarm bells rang so stripped off the head & sent it off to be pressure tested, with some new valves (a couple had slight damage) & skimmed.

New camblet, water pump, cambelt tensioner etc

    K04 setup added:

But after getting the turbo checked by a compant called AR Turbo they advised me to buy a new one as it would cost more to repair the old one!!! So new K04 turbo time... (That will teach me to buy a turbo off ebay!)

    Cable shift conversion:

    Engine in to check fitment:

Engine back out & then 3 months of cutting, grinding, welding, snading, filling & finally painting my engine bay! Couldn't believe how long it took to prep!

    Cardboard templates:

    Cut & welded:

    Prep'ed:

This is how it stands now (2/7/2012):

Looks great, awesome work so far.

One question - was this pic taken at the Retro Rides Gathering last year? Seem to recall being parked a couple of cars down from you
