Ok fuel pump does not make any sound when ignition is on. Now am I right in thinking they don't make a noise (priming)
So if I bridge the pump relay at the fuse box (wire across the 2 large slots) assuming it is the relay will this enable the car to start?
Is there any way to test the the fuel accumulator?

    Cheers mark

yes slot 2 for relay, easier way to bypass imo is swap the 17/18 relay into the pump socket this will make fuel pump come on with ignition.

to test accumulator and other parts of fuel system you need a set of pressure test gauges unfortunatly. if you can remove the wee screw in the back and fuel comes out that means its dead though

Ah ok I will try the wee screw.
So far iv got spark on all 4 plugs in a consitant patern
Iv put a live feed on both pumps in/out tank and both come on
Iv put a new relay in with no diferance there is power going to the relay.
Now I sprayed easy start on/in the filter and it fires but dies instantly so I'm thinking its metering head/ fuel delivery , the pin in the metering head is free and the flap lifts with a little tension so I'm a bit stumped now.
I think this is getting beyond my tinkering nohow.
So prob going to give it to dtm (Bosch) specialist as I think I would rather the specialists deal with the fuel than me.

have you swapped the filter yet? always worth a go for these kind of symptoms :)

also if you pull the feed line off the metering head and point in a bucket do you get any fuel out when the pumps prime/run? if not the non-return valve may have packed in had the same on my mk1 cabrio

Ah just hade the dam thing not start again so I swaped relay for a new one I lukily didn't retrench and now it works fine but the revs seem to be limited to 4.5k ?
Does the relay control the rev limiter?
