if you didn't go full hdr on the pics, can you explain how you got the effects on pics 1,2 and the last one please
your kit lens gives much better colour representation than mine does (sony A300 18-70) but then that kit lens has particularly bad rep. I will get a Sigma 10-20 before I go somewhere like that as it would be perfect for it. I would def camp, how cold does it get in winter up there? lol
I shoot using the neutral picture style so the colours are 'washed' out in these pics. On pics 1 & 2 it's an accurate representation of the lighting; it was simply fantastic - lit by sun in the immediate vicinity with very dark moody clouds further out. They are ripped from the internal DNG/RAW JPGs, so in effect straight off the camera with just a touch of saturation, contrast and sharpening added in a batch conversion; as I said I shoot in neutral picture style. The last pic I think is the Summer Isles and it was literally dark - 0.3s, 18mm, f/3.5 at ISO 1600 - Lots of noise and given I was on a moving ferry it took a few shots. I'll prob run those shots through Noise Ninja during processing. You could probably do winter if you have dencent enough camping kit.
Did I see some shots from ardmair point in there? If so for the love of god send me some high quality ones.
The first two shots are near Arisaig and somewhere on the B8008 - Possibly Silversands Camping site. The remaining pics were all taken on Lewis and Harris with the exception of the last 4. I think the very last pic is of the Summer Isles as we were getting very close to Ullapool.
(OT)Out of interest, the road leading outta ardmair north of ullapool. Worth a days discomfort on motorways for any mk2. Everything after that hill is grin city.
haha great minds think alike! you kids wont starve lol sorry, back to subject, amazing photos especially the ones on the late ferry!
