Hi all, water is seeping past the temp sensor on my mk2, tried a new sensor/seal to no avail. The expansion tank itself is yellower than a 40 a day smokers teeth so good time for a new one.

Anyone used one of the topran or similar items for about 15 quid? Seems too cheap to be any good but can't see any genuine new ones.

    Cheers

I put a Mahle one in over a year ago, though don't think it included the cap, that was bought additionally from recollection.

Both were likely chosen on cost grounds with maybe a nod to the brand name too and would've been through Autodoc.

Just had a look and the tank with them today is around £18, and the cap £11 (31% discount), so if you don't need the cap too, it'd not be too much more than the Topran you've seen.

Both looked to be comparable quality to the old original VW ones, still as fresh as the day they went in and haven't given a moments trouble.

Update, bought a Meyle header tank and febi temp sensor, fitted today and very happy with it, couldn't really tell the difference between the aftermarket and OEM item quality wise.

Bought from B and B Components, tried using autodoc and lasted about 3 minutes on thier website, bloody horrible site to use

I usually buy a febi or similar tank, but a Genuine cap.

Agree with you re Autodoc, the site is horrible on mobile devices.
