Hi guys, I've managed to stumble on what is believed to be a VW motorsport copy shifter made by All Smiles.

I'm planning to use this on an 02a/02j gearbox in my mk2.

I've done a lot of searching on the interclacker for any information on the shifter/ who are All Smiles (they dont seem to exist any more?) Theres the odd thread kicking around but not much information.

I need a set of cables which I'll be able to make up, but to save hassle does any know roughly what size cables I'll need?

Any info on the shifter, the company etc would be great also.

It's a lovely piece of kit and beautifully made!

James, RobT on here had a similar thing in his Ibiza, his had no self-centering mechanism and IIRC he missed a shift and lunched his engine.

    Something to bear in mind.

    Thanks all!

I managed to find his old build thread but no mention of a blow up... the shifter is different but a similar design for sure.
I'll see how it feels, and go from there :)

Hate the damn things on cars being sorted for mapping.
H pattern too tight on the shifter. Makes the car feel very project like to drive. as some looks as a "VW Motorsport" item but nothing like the real deal.
Perfer my standard 02A/J/S Ibiza or MK4 shift box with a quick shifter pivot on the gearbox end.

Just an experienced feedback on what I think they are like to live with.

Thanks mate, thats all good info to know!

i managed to get in touch with Richard from All Smiles, turns out its not an All Smiles shifter, so the mystery continues!

it does feel really well built! Theres no slop in any of the pivot points. Ill see how I get on.
