Folks , what else is out on the (s/h?) market in ITBs, and known to work well on a valver, with say a Dta s40 or similar? The Jenveys are good , and plentiful, but appear to have some scene tax attached.
i dont know why you wouldnt go with them when the main cost will be in the wiring, mapping and set up time. you know they are going to work and probably not go wrong. worth it imo. like the cheap conrods thread a while back, you gotta ask yourself if its worth your time trying alternatives that might not do the job. could be a false economy.
I have a pair of converted 40 dellorto carbs (into TB's) with long trumpets spare. PM me if interested Jon
The brand of ECU matters very little to the type of ITBs used. Once it can work in alpha/mode, the rest can be configured to the specific engine. Jenvey's are probably you best bet new or used, as individual throttle housings that can work on a 'DCOE' manifold or the DTH versions. They have an excellent reputation. Alternatively there are the slightly newer AT power jobs, which are more expensive and still building a good reputation for quality. There are few Weber items that are floating around. Pic stolen from Brookster. If money is no object you can always try a system from Tibuc. or Titan barrel jobs Have the skills and know where OE components can be cheaply sourced? You can make up your own as was done here with Toyota 4AGE 20v base parts some years ago. You can also call up Brian G
Absolutely! They are not spaced properly away from the throttle bell mouths and so restrict and disrupt airflow and torque. However in my case those were purchased to get to and fro track events as there was not yet a permanent solution for filtration at the time. Throttles with socks were just removed from Gurds car due to his turbo upgrade.
KMS are good...more or less the same as Jenvey's. . .I've used them as supplied by a customer...balance up nice and work just like a Jenvey. .i.e very good. As above you could make o.e bodies work...bike bodies work well too. Weber Alpha bodies are very nice and well made, apart from the naff red rubber trumpets!...tho some nice alloy ones could be turned up with spinnings from ITG. Jenvey's do tick all the boxes tho in usability and neatness.
I put gsxr ones on the rally car and it worked well, but this time I think I'll go for a bolt on solution.. and I'll be using an airbox to combat high iat. I have a set of 20v 4age ones here, we had them on a 3sge, but didn't give it any more power than a single tb.
A 3S-GE motor and an ABF motor is not a fair comparison as a 3S-FE and and an ABF . With the 4AGE 20v throttles on the intake tract that was used, we saw significant difference on Gurdip's engine, power, torque and response with the 42s fitted vs the cars with the stock inlet. The 45s were not tested yet. You have to be a bit scientific to isolate noises though.
Golf motor is one of the few I would be happy to use Jenvey because the spacing is about right with the double DCOE pattern Most of the Jap motors out there have a different bore spacing, which kind of misses the point by putting a S-bend in the inlet I have made ITB's from motorcycle ones, PITA for good linkages here is one I didn't use... after 40 or so hours of ****ing around Then add another 60 hours for the one I did! (But no photo)
The sterling to Euro rate is making my dream of dth Jenveys, and a dta s40 seem unlikely, but KMS is looking very very well priced. And my preferred dyno guy is happy with KMS.
