    Hi guys this is what I am and my car

    17, Male, Pass Plus
    Live in Nottingham, West Bridgford, fairly low crime area
    Car = VW Golf MK2 1990 1.3
    Mods = K+N,big bumpers,sebrings alloys,gti spots,new exhaust
    Car is parked on the road at night
    Used for social and commuting
    No alarm as we speak but i'm gonna put a Cat1 in
    Alloy wheels have thatcham locking nuts

    Which would be a good company to try HIC? whats the clubs insurance discount like for members?

    I tried elephant and got a quote of 2500 lol [:^(] I was hoping of a quote of about a grand cheaper lol I know I should be phoning around but I was wondering if you guys knew a company which was good and cheapish

    I would always declare the mods IMO my friend didn't and he had an accident with a mercedes which wasnt his fault,but the guy made out it was and luckily for him he happended to have a mate walking down the road who verified his "side of the story" insurance guys came round to his house looked in his car it had a K+N wasn't declared so they voided his insurance. now he owes the merc driver 5000 for an accident which wernt his fault.

    Mods do make a diff I think they work on the idea that your car looks more desirable so it's a bigger target for car thiefs and if you modify the engine you are wanting to rag the car and drive badly. I know its a generalisation but thats how they look at it

    & even if they dont increase the premium because of mods (dont think liv-vic do for most), they still have to be informed of them.

    try Tesco's as well. They arent too bad for younger drivers.

    I thought people like liv-vic & HIC only insure people 19 & over?

    Liv Vic insured em 1200 on my Mk2 Golf driver. Living in a pretty high crime area.

    I'm 18 with no no claims

    Adrian Flux are good for me. Depends who you are really. They quoted me 500 TPFT for my mk3 2.0 8v (I'm 21) which is still too much but its better than Liv Vic 1,685

    adrian flux are crap if you want to add any mods to your car once you've started your policy. they charge you for stupid stuff but if you don't declare it then you're running the risk of them not paying out if you spank your car!
