Been reading up on the pros and cons for Performance Winter vs Studless Snow/Ice tires. I'm having trouble deciding on which tyre to order on tirerack for my 2014 GTI.

As you know we get hammered with snow. However, Rochester is pretty good at keeping the roads cleared.

I know the Studless Snow/Ice are supposed to handle worse in the dry/wet road. But how bad are they really? I am considering the performance tyre, but I just don't want to find myself in a position where I'm like "goddammit I should got the true snows".

I like to make trips down to Bristol as well as all the way to Jay, VT during the ski season.. so maybe just get some regular snows?

I'm basically down to either Blizzack WS70s or the Pirelli performance winter. Either way I'm going 205/55/16 on a 16" wheel.
