Seems pricey. I think in the long term it'll be worth less than if he'd left it standard and spent the money restoring it, what with it being such a rare car an' all..
So how extensive is the build? Are we talking about a completely irreversible conversion? Bare-metal respray?
Oh FFS, it annoys the hell out of me when people quote production numbers like this. If you write a letter to VW asking them how many G60 Syncros were made in total - as many people have done - the reply is always "sorry, we don't know". Therefore, how can you quote how many were made in a certain colour and / or number of doors? You can't.
Begorrah! Absobloody lootly spot on me duck. What a way to destroy a proper car! Not just the motor, but this as well: kw suspension stainless exhaust custom leather trim one off 7 times chromed bbs rims The guy has just destroyed what IMHO is the ultimate factory Mk2 (except for it being LHD). The Rallye and Limited don't count for me, for the obvious reasons!
I disagree. Id buy it if i had the money tomorrow. Its the ultimate for 6 pot fans, although for that price i would want haldex and not syncro.
Yeah, but for that kind of money you could take a standard Mk2 and do all of the work, and not lose a very special car! I am not saying it would not be a perfect car for someone, only that I object to there being one less G60 Syncro for the person who wants a G60 syncro!
If you took a standard Mk2 and made it Syncro, as well as all the other work thats been done, it would cost you considerably more than 20k.
Only if you paid someone to do it. I could build that car for well under 10k anyone wanna buy a supercharged r32 4wd corrado? 30k
I agree Paul. But thats what i was referring to. Not that many people have the time, space, tools, knowledge and parts resourcing to pull it off. You could spend 20k on the parts for a decent rebuild without any labour too.
Thing is, you can start with a bog standard syncro mk2 (which were made in their thousands) for 500 quid. Bodyshell exactly the same as the G60 syncro (apart from a the spot welds being spaced further apart iirc), and seeing as the engine, gearbox and rear diff are getting replaced for a V6 installation anyway, the weaker original running gear is no big deal. He might have managed to spend 20 grand on it, but I don't think it's worth it, and there is now one less genuine G60 syncro left in the world. Good news for people like Trev16v though, as their cars are now even rarer and hence more valuable.
I know the car and its very tidy, as said about the car belongs to Andy from Storm Developments. If i had 20k to spend i would have had it off him a while back.
