Evening all im just fitting power steering on my mk2 golf and have struck a problem. I bought a rack from a non gti golf and forget to get the boot and uj. Ive fitted it on but non of the boots i have fit. Ive got a PAS boot from a 90 spec gti and a manual boot. The manual fits better but seems to be to long and a bit slack around the rack end. Was there two differnt racks available?
the 16v/g60 rack was a different part # to the 8v pas rack, but its physically the same shape. did you get the rubber donut type bit that pushes round the UJ bit on the rack, the PAS UJ boot then clips onto that.
