valver i believe the early vr6's had 280mm brakes, they were still 5 stud, so you have to use the brake disks from the g60 i think you can fit g60 brakes fine aswell.

i fitted both caliper and carrier which i believe has the advantage of not having to machine the pads or caliper to fit the pads over the wider disc, if you use g60 carriers and standard calipers then you have to machine one or the other or they dont fit over the disc. something like that anyway, either way i fitted standard vr6 pads no issue! and it looks like the easy bleed kit i used did a proper good job too

Early Mk3 were 280mm, later were 288mm. Jetta looks stunning Steve.

why did vw bother going 8mm bigger on the disc, can't imagine it has any noticable gain on braking performance?
nice booty btw, (the car that is!)

Its not just about the disc diameter the pad surface area on the 288mm brakes is also a lot bigger as it uses different calipers.

i once bought the 280mm pads from halfords not knowing there were too sizes (plus thier ****e guide suggested only one size!!) got home and realised they were wrong... the one's I bought were 30 and the one's i needed which were only listed under sharan vr6 were 55!!! I just showed the halfords guy the two boxes and said "i bought these, but i need these can i swap?" and he just took the old one's and said no probs so i just walked out lol

Very nice! What exhaust does it have on it? appears to be fairly well hidden from the pics!

Lovely looking car. Just read through the thread, keep up the good work

I'm not usually a fan of crystal lights but I have to say they look quite smart - where are they from?

Looks lovely! How are those Mk3 style handles holding up? Any problems with them catching? Might get some myself.
