industrial spec! Actually , looking at something similar today myself... only its 4wd , and turbo.. and rollcaged....
New Project Dave? I expect my A80 TDI one is the same. Inner end driveshaft joints are monster! I bought some spare driveshafts from a 2.0 petrol one, and the outers are the same, but inners on the Diseasel are 130mm I think, with 10mm spline bolts instead of the normal 8mm.
Does the flywheel have those 2 delicate small pins fitted for timing? Have to be careful with them iirc, they will be easily bent with the weight of a gearbox like that. Have you approached Swarfega about a sponsorship deal?
Feck Tris. Knowing you and your Da, I'll bet it's got one of these attached? Audi Sport S1 Gear Lever! 666! I have not had the pleasure of changing the clutch on the 90 20V Q yet, so await that pleasure. The Bell Housing on that looks a lot bigger as well!
It's cos I am closer to the sun when fitting slates. Just one roof window, and about 200 slates to go now!
The same casings are in the 80, 90, A4 and the A6 IIRC Only difference is the CV sizes, 100mm, 105mm, the C/W and gear ratios.
I got the photos thanks. Beautiful car! Is it part of the 'Stable', or are you fettling it for a client?
I mainly made a driven plate alignment tool yesterday. Just from bits I found in the shed! I guess everyone has these bits just lying about in their sheds? #1 - Britool EBH 625 Socket. Special socket for 14mm taper seat spark plugs. Probably only used it a few times, 40, or so, years ago? #2 - Thin wall heat shrink tube. Super snug fit in the driven plate bore. #3 - 14mm OD x 12mm ID Steel Tube. Perfect press fit into the socket! #4 - 12mm bolt with 99.9% of the head removed to leave a tiny lip to stop the bush falling off. #5 - Oilite 15mm OD x 12mm ID bush. OD eased a few microns with emery cloth, in my home made lathe, so as to form a perfect fit in the flywheel needle roller bearing. It makes a lovely 'PLOP' sound as it is withdrawn. I'll fit the new SACHS clutch, tomorrow, after I have made a flywheel locking tool. The clutch arrived today from ECP. The box was open! And, believe it or not, someone had actually opened the grease pack and emptied it! Can't fit the transmisson back as I am waiting for the dealer to recieve the new oil seals for the output flanges!
Quite right! I had a quick look at the Q today. It is the same size casing. Why I thought it was larger I just don't know?????
