I have a 1995 audi 80 that ticks over sweetly does not smoke but on reving up the engine there is a very loud knocking sound exactly like the engine normally sounds but louder. the oil pressure light only comes on before starting and only one fault code for injector start valve. checked timing spot on when trying to drive not much power has any one else heard of this problem. And where is the MAP sensor on these late models
Is it the 1Z diesel engine? Does the knock happen all time or just when cold / warm? The MAF sensor is next to the air box on the 1Z - plastic pipe about 4" long and 3" diameter. It should say Pierburg on the outside.
