Hi, can anyone help me on this.... Its a 2001 Audi A2, the car drives perfect, but when coming to a junction and the i dip the clutch the car cuts out, this will only ever happen when the car is not in gear, as in just at idle. It dont always do it tho only sometimes. Has anyone come across a similar problem before? Any help would be great. Thanks
fairly common on the 1400 polos/golfs, sure it's a FSI anyways same on all vws- very likely to be the throttle body dirty, blocking off the air causing it to stall needs no more tha taking off cleaning- will normally be ok, might need readapting the values. battery disconnected for 30 mins, or using vagcom
^^^^ what he said You do get the odd one thats worse after cleaning and the adaptation wont cure it, then its a new throttle body, not often though
Cheers guys, ive also been told it could be a MAP sensor or something? not too advance on sensors... Will VAG COM tell me straight away whats up with it? or should i take off the throttle body and clean it first? How can i check it on VAG COM? Thanks
Mattkh- the idle does move up and down slightly not too much i have seen worse... the thing is it wont cut off when started in the morning and just left to idle its after you drive it and then come to a stop... after long motorway journeys it wont do it that often in the day. Hope this makes sense. Cheers
I'd go with cleaning the throttle body. Happened to my Lupo 1.4 16v when i bought it, took it off, gave it a good clean, re adapted it and it's never done it since, was really caked in crud.
the trottle body acts as the idles stablistion valve as well, when cold will 'put the choke on' clean it, and see what happens
Air sensor normally makes them stall but if held on low throttle for a few moments it will then begin to tickover if a little lumpy, if it pulls a fault code from the air pressure sensor as being faulty, it will ignore the signal and work of an estimated value from the throttle body............. according to Bosch
I will take the trottle body off first and give it a clean if clogged or dirty, sounds like the cheapest way to go first, if it dont help ill put it on VAG COM. Anything i need to look out for when taking it off? Cheers,
Hi Put up a picture of the engine. What is the mileage. The other thing worth cleaning is the EGR valve.
Hey guys, after a while i finally had the time to take off the throttle and it was caked with crap like you guys said, i gave it a good clean so now its gone from black to silver again. Put everything back together and it runs perfect with no cutting out. Thanks alot for your help much appriciated.
