hey, after my valver got written off by the garage mechanic vs a silly old gran i've been pootling around in this little auto mk1 gl cab - its nasty - i noticed oil under it at the petrol station tonight, a patch about the size of a crip packet, when i looked under the bonnet there was oil allover the place - all over the fan, the gearbox etc, and you can see into the gear box from about five different points... now, i don't know much, but that doesn't seem right to me, specially as there's oil everywhere. wtf is going on? (hopefully getting a new car tomorrow, so the garage can have this thing back, but i just don't get it!) cheers!
I don't know a huge amount about autoboxes - but at a guess, it's totally fucked. If you need to limp it back to the garage just use cheap engine oil instead of ATF to top it up, the box is going in the scrapheap anyway.....
