BBS RM wheels, are they supposed to be hub-centric?

    Hi all,
I've just re-fitted my BBS RM split-rims after a wait of nearly 4 years whilst I got a garage sorted out. They look the nuts, but they're not hub-centric. Is this right? Have I misplaced a set of hub-centric spacers? Every wheel I have fitted to a mk2 golf has been hub-centric and so I assume that the BBS RM wheel is also supposed to sit on the hub, yes? The wheels were certainly not spaced to get a wider track, but they could possible have had hub spacers fitted to the rim, if so I've no idea where I put them....

The wheels were supplied new with the car as an option back in 1988. When I bought the car in 2011, I took them off and stored them as I had the car parked on a London street and I didn't want them to go astray. Now I have a lockable garage I've put them back on, but as they're factory supplied I really can't figure out why they are not a perfect fit.

    Am I NORMAL??! :)

thanks for any input or advice

    Drew

Depends on the RM's you have
And if they are OEM supplied or aftermarket
Most likely you have just lost the spigot rings if they are the latter

so far as I know they are genuine VW wheels, supplied with the car when it was ordered in 1988, which is why I can't figure out why the fit is so poor

spigot rings, that's the word I was after, not hub spacers!!

    cheers

edit: I'll get some piccies tonight

    well here are some piccies

I measured the centre bore of the wheel as being about 59mm across, or maybe up to 60mm. I couldn't get my micrometer into the bore so it was measured by eye using a ruler, so not very precise! This piccie shows the gap of ~1mm all round the hub of the brake disc:

As for numbers, it's all a bit blurred by paint, but I think I can see:
    BBS Germany
    7J x 15H2 ET25
and the last piccies has ??RM001?? ??AABA1629?? but this is very blurred

OEM are RM012 6.5x15 ET33 and were the correct centre bore.

    Those are not OEM

All aftermarket 4x100 wheels tend to be Renault spigot size yes

cheers chaps, from reading around it looks like they might be 60.1mm bore then.

Not sure they aren't original with the car though, I have the original dealer invoice for the car, including the BBS rims, so unless the originals got nicked and were replaced....?

Will see if I can think up a way of measuring the bore more accurately and take it from there
