and tonight's the night it should now be exempt. Stayed up late to celebrate (and try to tax it).

Don't even try sending license off for renewal, lost count how many months the wait has been.

Checked again tonight and saw a message that DVLA thinks it's now MOT exempt - great! But... still tried charging me for tax.

So.. is going to the Post Office really the easiest way?

@dodgy did you send forms in post and what's the car? :)

Cheers @PhilRyder for the suggestion. Good opportunity to see what the local PO looks like I suppose ;)

    Two things.
I seem to remember on another forum that someone said they went through the procedure online and at the very end it went to zero for the cost.
I have done two cars at the post office. Take your log book with the change of class filled out, your current MOT (or MOT exempt declaration form) and your insurance certificate. They will check them over (didn’t even look at my exemption form) and send away the log book for you. Job done [:D] unless you are like @dodgy and they take an age to send it back, but who cares until you come to sell the car

It's Allie's driving license, been back and forth, renewal time, and was in old name so sent marriage certificate, all the right stuff, they checked, sent it back then returned license saying not sent proof even though the form had been signed with confirmation, probably 3 months.
Guy in work it took 5 months for his to be returned after passing test too.

They have put an I instead of an O in my surname, on golfs v5 so really unsure how long that will take.

Went to the post office this am with my V5 and freshly printed + completed V112 form.

They gave me the V112 back and said they don't need it ho ho.

I left with half my V5 and a printed receipt declaring that I now have 12 months tax - at no cost!

Thanks for the tips + good luck with your V5 @dodgy
