so anything with wide arches is "Berg Cup" now is it? you do realise not all the cars in the Berg cup have blown arches.....
Yes Paul there are some stunning motors without big arches in there, just most vw stuff does & this being a VW forum i put them up 1st [>:d<] . Feel free to pop up your favourites for us. Plenty of lovely stuff (even without big arches): http://www.tk-motorsport.at/index.php?site=gallery&cat=pics&subcat=bergcup I am just wondering as well what is out there that might not be racing in the Berg itself but elsewhere (lots of cars in 1st post from USA) or inspired by it or it's looks in some cases.
Not sure if helpful, but 'Berg' is really a coined term for FIA "Group 2" or "Group 4" homologation bodykits since that's where these kits really originate, by dint of being allowed to widen the car track for competition. We see them with Golfs, but clearly they were just as available for Escort Mk2s, Manta, etc etc. Group 2 & 4 effectively became Group B in rallying terms, circa 1983, and Group A racing I think got rid of the arch kits from the circuits? This is one of the earliest Group 2s - Per Eklund: In the USA, I think it's governed differently, SCCA etc.
In the late 70's there were plenty of the wide arched stuff about , AKAI for example: when i think of Berg today regarding VW's i think of the low wide cars which a lot of them tend to be hence my 1st post . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Canadian 4WD iirc Some of the Build / Evolution pics are found here: http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/vandk/
Hmm. That is just about exactly what my next project was going to look like. Mine will have a Scotland flag on the roof though, just in case in 4 years time we make it too the World Cup Finals. I do hope I will have it finished by then too. It is good to set deadlines you know.
