for noise a K+N would do you, or drill it for a much cheaper option. if you want noise of course i don't believe it will give you anything else...
iv seen venoms own stainless steel air filter looks quite gd not really worried about performance of it aslong as it runs ok.. already drilled the airbox.. done nothing!
when the engine breaths freely it will perform better. the stanered airbox works fine as it is. but iof you want noise you can replace it with a aftermarket filter. you must of drilled it wrongly if you dont get a noise. how many holes did you drill in it and how big where they. I drilled about 20 holes in the side of it on the wind side of the airbox so it does'nt get hot air from the engine. each hole is about 13mm diameter. vduber
We drilled 3 cm holes all around the bottom half of my mk3 airbox and it sounds louder then my last mk3 gti with a KN filter. Drives smoother as well Think BIG holes
Drilled my air box, purely for sounds. added a K+N Panel filter as well just to make it a little louder.. Not going to bother with anything else till the engine is changed....
If you have any clip on trumpets on your airbox then remove them. On my Mk2 16v I have fitted a K&N panel filter, removed the airbox completely and fabricated a steel cowl to route air from the wing and headlight. Sounds fairly standard untill you floor it then the sound is superb car feels more responsive as well. Looks very similar to: http://www.parts4vws.com/catalog/product_detail.asp?PartNumb er=15040
