I know its probably been asked before. Best broadband provider> Im a light user, with very few downloads, and the fastest connection we get is 2 megs. Cheap and cheerful is what i need. We were with vodafone, but because of their shocking service, we are no longer with them. So suggestions please! thanks
We have. Albeit only once in 12 months but it took them an age to sort it and tried to blame our wireless router. It was enough for us to decide we will go elsewhere when the contract is up. We'll go to NTL/Virgin as I used to use this in a shared house for 3yrs and it never faultered once.
BT or Sky would be the best. BBC's Watchdog have been to visit Talk Talk many times... its ok while its working, but when it goes tits up they are a nightmare to get it sorted.
I was with Virgin, was a good deal at the time, TV, Internet and landline for 30 a month. Their customer service was fantastic, UK based call centres, quick to respond if there was a fault, and they are currently the only people that use fibre optic cables which means internet access is lightning fast and unlimited. when i was on the phone to them last month they even asked what hold music I wanted to listen to (?!) press 1 for pop music, 2 for easy listening, 3 for classical etc. Genius! I only left them because i have now been offered BT vision for free.
yep im with talk talk.......more problems with talk talk then you would get with a ford full off rust.
i've no complaints with o2. moved from tiscali, who are harassing us for more money even though we have cancelled. stupid indian call centres.
bethere are the quickest and has a forum run by geeks so you can always get help, Don't be fooled by download speeds when its the upload that's important for online gaming, I learnt this to my cost when I was on Virgin's X.L. package which was 37 a month just for the internet, which did have the best download speed of any I've had, but the upload was only 750meg, so could'nt host games on GRAW 2 for more than 6 people, I pay 22 a month for upto 24meg (I get 12-14meg download) and all important upload of around 1.5meg.
LLU? i've been with 3 different companies in the past 4 years and all have been the same. I want faster downloads and better gaming so want an isp with LLU? only ones available are aol, tiscali and orange though! not the best picks, tiscali are winning at hte mo.....
not o2 then http://www.broadbandchoice.co.uk/compare/broadband-deals/llu-broadband.html or is it limited to certain areas.
yeah, hence the LLU bit at the start. i'd just get the normal, way expensive BT piggybacked service I get with all other isps, wouldn't make no difference. if i could get Be/O2, then i would, by far the best isp from what i read...........
Not BT in my experiance, my Broadband (I use the term losely - 1.6meg) went off because of a "fault" no more explenation than that, NINE AND A HALF WEEKS AGO, due to be fixed Monday.
Cant complain about quality of service and support from Virgin. 10Mb (their lowest package) - get real world speeds of around 9Mb.
