Best Standard Colour for a MK2 GTI

Opinions please as to what you think is the best standard colour for a MK2 GTI

I have had a few MK2 GTI's pass through my hands, atlas grey, royal blue, helios blue, oak green, black, met black, bright met blue - I think that my favourite so far is the Atlas, or I'm telling myself that cos it was my first and the one that I still have

So what are the best lookers and what are the rare colours????

Oak green is the only colour for me.

white, polishes up beautifully, with BBS cross-spokes and 40mm drop. .

 

LA5U, met blue = think thats what I had, best colour ive seen.

Actually, I dont think you get GTi's in the UK in my colour...

 

either burgandy pearl or oak green IMO.

that burgundy pearl looks ace,


think mk2's look best in dark colours -

Black, Dark Blue (note my technical use of colour names)

(shiny dark blue!)


and not tornado red.

grey is nice too.

 

oak green - nice colour but way over-rated and not worth the extra premium IMO.

as daviddd says, white polishes up brilliantly (shame i ain't washed mine since august and haven't fitted my bbs splitties yet )

but it's sooooooo over-rated that it just kinda spoils it for me.

Oak Green, Burgundy Pearl, Black and Helios Blue are my favourites.

Quite like bright blue metallic and Monza Blue as well. Reckon big bumper cars look great in grey.

In terms of rarity there don't seem to be many light blue metallic or light green metallic GTI's. I have also seen a couple of GTI's in a kind of silver/grey metallic (both G reg 8v big bumper), but have no idea what the colour is called.

 

JCS - It's called pearl grey, a mate had an 8v , as you say quite rare.

 

sure it's not the same one JCS?? both G plate, both 8V, both big bumper, both very rare...

 

Anyone got a pic of this grey/silver? Quite interested to see what it looks like.

Having trawled the classifieds in Germany for quite a while there is a dark red met/burgandy that I really like. More like a raspberry met as the MK2 VR6 on Vortex that was featured in one of the mags

 

Silver or very dark blue/black IMO are the best for MK2's Think that the Oak Green colour is well over rated!
