Ok, it pains me to say this cos this place has been good to me over the last few years with my previous VW's but damn..... what I just found out has really ground me up!!! Here's the deal folks.....

Was washing my GTI Anni the other day only to discover that the torx screws holding the side skirts into the wheel arches were missing, strange I thought, next I discover that the side skirt in question was bust just below the door hinge area [:^(]. Looks like some idiot had unscrewed the torx screws and blasted a screw driver or something into the bonded side skirt...... but the nugget in question just bust the plastic instead cos it's bonded all the way along the car!

I did a bit of digging and discovered that one of the mechanics at the VW dealership in wishaw (VERVE) has been watching for Golf's with bodykits etc, copying the address from the job cards and then going out in the middle of the night nicking the kits! Little c*nt, sorry about the language I'm getting annoyed thinking about this. Now you're probably wondering how I found this out..... one of the mechanics at this dealership actually told me! He wouldn't mention any names cos he knew I'd be right round there with a set of portable leg breakers :p. I have since reported it to VW VERVE and their H.R people are investigating, they said they'd call me back at the end of the day, that was last week! Next stop is the cop shop.

So just a note to beware out there folks if you use the VW dealer out atWishaw (Newmains). Personally I ain't never going back there with another car.

Yeah Dave, I used the Rutherglen branch for my last service, I used to take my VR to wishaw too, until they locked themselves out of it and had to break in... chipped all the paint and thought I wouldn't notice! [:x]. After a load of complaining and a letter sent to the Boss Boss at Milton Keynes they took the car in and resprayed the damaged areas. I just want to know that the mechanic who was doing this is out of a job now!

What problems you had with Arnold Clark Dave? I almost went there last month.

It's bloomin scary what these places get up to..... and you have to trust them with one of your most valued possessions. I'll be chasing up Verve today to get an update.

I've been to the Police already, they're carrying out their own investigation and said they'd be in touch. Just sold my Golf... so no more worrying everytime I hear a noise outside my flat at 3am! I've been sh*tting it expecting to wake up in the morning and find half my car missing [:^(]Just need to start the hunt for something else now!

Hope you get somewhere with this mate, a friend of mine bought a 51 plate Bora V6 4 Motion from them early this year, they said they wouldn't supply any warranty with the car, he argued the case that a warranty was the reason he was buying from a main dealer, afetr a lot of messing around they gave in an said they would supply a warranty with the car. He paid for the car and said he would pick it up once they have put a couple of tyres on it and fix a small dent n the rear arch. When he came to pick up the car they had fitted wrong sized tyres and the dent wasn't fixed, they also said they would forward the paperwork for the warranty onto him. It never arrived and un fortunately the car started to give him problems, not starting, cutting out etc, they had it in a few times and they couldn't find a problem with the car, to be honest they weren't very interested. Without the warranty paperwork he didn't want to take the car to another VW dealer incase he got landed with a bill, so he had to contact VW UK to sort it out. Sounds like they need to be retrained in some customer service! [xx(]

Thats the dealer I've been going to for sure! Like you said, they just aren't interested. I had to complain and write to the Director of VW UK before they would even touch my VR6 after they fecked all the paintwork on it. After that they couldn't be more helpful.... sorry this and sorry that.... you should have came to us first, blah blah blah.... the fact was I did go to them first, gave them 3 chances to sort it and they still said it wasn't them that damaged it. One letter to HQ later and all of a sudden they remembered what happened and they were really sorry....... But thats another story, I just want to make sure no-one else loses any parts of their car to this rogue thieving mechanic!

Glad to hear about this as I was thinking of taking my Mk3 into Verve.

Maybe someone could recommend a good independant VW specialist in the Glasgow area? Has anyone had any good reports of small garages?

    Hey Shedjockey....

I used to take my Mk2 GTI & VR6 to Bedrock Vdubs in Motherwell. Run by a guy called John, really nice dude too, very helpful - even if you just want a chat or some advice. He does all sorts, last time I spoke to him he was talking about getting a rolling road in, dunno if he done it - not been done there in ages.

Worth a phone call or a visit though. His unit is at the back of the Police station in Motherwell, a little industrial estate. If you go down let me know how you get on. Cheers

Great Volcom - I'll pop round there soon and let you all know if there's a good alternative to Arnold Clark or Verve!

Excellent, Sounds like what I'm looking for. I was dreading having to pay main dealer prices for the usual lousy work.

I think the problem with any large business is that you never know who you're going to get working on your car.

    Here's a good trick,

    Pick car up

If you're happy with the job go back a few days later.

Ask which mechanic did the job as you'd like to give them a drink/say thank you.

Get the name of the mechanic and always ask that they do your car in future.

Saves getting the workshop idiot/pikey, every dealership normally has at least one [8(]
