Got a problem with my dad's Bora's glow plugs. Not great for the time of year [><]

Anyway they are not getting any voltage to them making it difficult to start. Fuse is ok. We've had it at a garage and the guy said it is probably the ECU.

Does this sound right? How much to replace the ECU?

I'd take a look at the glow plug relay b4 changing the ECU.

Where is the diagnostic port on one of these?

Guy at the garage said he's ruled out fuse/relay etc.

What about the temperature sensor then? the one that tells the ECU how long to run the glow plugs before a start, gotta be worth checking, although if the dash glowplug light is comming ON ??? it's prob OK.

Well the Haynes said to disconnect the temperature sensor whilst checking the voltage, this should make sure voltage is applied when the ignition is turned on.

The light on the dash does come on as normal, yeah.

Had it on vag-com today and it didn't return any error codes. My dad's replaced the temp sensor now anyway and it's still just the same.

    Any other ideas?

dissconnect all the glow plugs, then measure the voltage again, don't short the leads/plugs to the car/engine while doing this!
