    Ok,

so the time has come to upgrade the G60, it's been fun, but as middle age approaches (30!!! [:^(] ) I now need more refinement (sp) in my life. I was initially thinking about getting a Golf V6 4Mo, but for some reason I just fancy something a bit different. So does any one have any thought, expierinces, reports, general opinions, etc on the big ar5ed one?

my old mans got a bora, the v5 one, and its a lovely car.

good buys Bora's as they allways seem to be cheaper/less miles than the more popular mk4.

my dad bought his (a v reg) from a salvage auction with a blown engine, and got it on the road for just over 3 grand ;)

Ive got a bora and I would buy another one they munch up miles effortlessly and look more aggressive than a golf 4.

very heavy on petrol though. but i suppose they make up for that in performance. to be honest if i was going to do it, it would be a golf as the hatch suits me better. but the bora definately looks better.
a good choice whatever you go for.

    I tried a 1.8T 180bhp Sport yesterday.
I think it was a duffer but I was deeply unimpressed.
Very rough engine (only 12.5k on it) and sloppy handling plus minging wood and no CD player ('03 reg car)!!
Quickish but I though the Octavia vRS went and handled MUCH better.

I think the V5's are 170 odd bhp. Wouldnt you be better off gettinga bora 1.8t, just incase you fancied tweaking it later on?

1st is ridiculously short. Itll pull away in 3rd. Get used to it though!

That one on RS6s has been for sale a while mate, looks good but its WELL over priced simply because it has 18"s. RS6s will cost you 600 and you can pick up a newer example with less miles for 2k less. See here Autotrader Bora V6s . IMO there are three things you want to look out for:

    Xenons (1200 option (?))
Leather Recaros (2,050 option and means no ugly New Beetle headrests.)
Sat Nav (2,500 option, but can be bought for 600)

If it doesn't have at least one of these it had better be absolute peanuts - check out the blue Y reg one for 5.5k! These may be extremely rare but they also do not sell quickly, so there are deals to be had - don't pay over the odds.

As a car, I love it. Every time I decide to change I can't find anything with the performance / engine note / quality / novelty value / owner satisfaction thats not double the price. Im still not bored of the engine and Ive had it since October 03.
