Some may have heard already about the demise of the harlequin, with a repair estimate of just short of 1500 it has been classed as a total loss[:^(] I have therefore decided to undertake the repair myself. The damage is not actually that bad.

A couple of pics of the damage:

    So the strip down begins.
Bumper off reveals a bent subframe:

Removal of the subframe reveals a broken front panel:

However luckliy, the chassis leg is still nice and straight:

    New front panel (20)

    fitted with new headlamp:(15)

    Spot the difference:

    Good as new:(10)

Run out of parts now. Still need the following:

    16v Bumper
    Front subframe
    Grill and surround
    drivers wing
    Indicator

If anyone has any of the above a PM would be much appreciated. And does anyone know if the subframe is the same for 16v / non 16v bumpers?

Will post more pics as work progresses, parts pending. Obviously lokking at spending a good deal less than 1500. Many thanks to Mr Hindle for the parts so far.

Good on you for fixing it.

I've been thinking of looking for one.

What you have called the front subframe is actually known as a bumper beam, this will make it easier to find one ;)

You look like you did well to not get any buckling in the chassis longis as the original bumper beam did its job nicely absorbing the impact :) (my jobs crash testing.....[:$] )

    Cheers

    Karl.

Heard it called a number of things since I have needed one, cross member, subframe, bumper iron, bumper bracket etc, ECP have a genuine part for around 70, or a copy part for 20 (not sure of the quality of this for the price though) so am still trying to find one in a breakers. Looks like I'm going to have to buy the bumper brand new though as they are proving rarer than a very rare thing, and I know only 50 harlequins were ever made with this colour bumper so will have to paint it regardless.
