The laptop is bullying me again [:^(]

    • My homepage is set to http://www.google.com
    • Fire it up and it soon resets itself by inserting an 's', ie https://www.google.com
I'm sick of clicking dialogue windows to okay any screen loading in https so I've been in and out of Tools/Options/Security, Advanced etc to try to find the Stealthily-Hidden-Nasty-Microsoft-Bill-Gates-You're-A-Git switch to revert it to 'OEM' operation...

    All to no avail.

I never asked it to do this.. so why has it done it?

    Help! Thanks.

Yes, and I've just logged out. I stayed initially, but has now gone.

    Thanks!

A really irritating dialogue box mind when logged in and it comes up. How does anyone ever cope with this?

What dialogue box do you mean bud? When logged in.

Have you tried deleting cookies manually?

    C:\Users\Chris??\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

Or do you mean Google Instant is doing your head in?

I run this as a home page these days. Alot cleaner. It searches everywhere though, no priority to UK unfortunately, but still gets rid of 'instant', permanantly.

Sorry for the delay, this is the box:

Since my browser defaults to Google (kinda useful and intentional), whenever I am logged into Google, every single damn webpage that loads gets slapped with this dialogue box before I can progress.

I cannot ever remember this. It's new. Can I remove it? [:s]

    Cheers both, that's fixed now.

Flipping tragic they issue sheit like this, and do it without using the English language.

I mean 'mixed content'. What exactly is that ever supposed to mean? No direct relation to any web browser, ever, since the dawn of time [8-}]

Ah glad youve got it sorted matey.

It means the webpage contains both secure and non secure items. Could be related to newer windows updates whilst using IE8. Do you run IE8 or IE9?

    @ Pluginz, IE8

@ ktuludays I have Firefox too, but don't use it all the time as I don't like all the functionality.

The dialogue box was a change I'd noticed recently. Couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't normal.

Just looked the video fix. Is this fix compromising your security? Enabling non secure websites access? This could lead to some pop up ads. Just a thought.

You like IE8 Chris? You could install IE9 and use the compatibilty to view in IE8 mode with the added security, i think :)
