spacer plate or offset bushing is really crap for the chamber shape, not sure how the stock pistons would take to a bit of a dish.

JE pistons in the US or Ridgeway racing over here might be a decent price

i have to disaggree with all that

the Rs2 exhaust manifold has been modded lots of times to make 16vt's

    RS2 pistons wont make you a 2 litre 16vt

the 8v pistons dont need modding!!

I beg to differ on the Exhaust manifold.... It may with a lot of work, be adapted. I have never had the pleasure of buying one yet. I would guess Vag would want a small fortune for one. The part number is 034 253 031A, I would bet a pint on it being over 500..!
Incidentally I had a Nothelle engined S2 avant a while ago. The 330 hp output was gained through a modified turbo compressor and the manifold was totally re-designed as the flow was poor.
The 8v turbo. com manifold may be a bargin...

I'm planng on using a standard 2E block, KR head, custom fabbed (by me)intake running G60 injection on a modified Digi8V loom. A junkyard special. Whether it'll work or not is a different matter. Haven't decided to go supercharged or turbocharged yet, so the manifold can wait.....

They are strong enough then i take it? Could you not just use the 2e block?

Still, it would break my heart putting a grinder to the manifold.......Bit like the people who shorten the ur-quattro....

Turbo technics used to offset bush the big ends and remove 1mm from the top of the crown. I've seen a set after they'd been used for a few thousand miles and believe me the results were ugly!! The amount of detonation must have been real bad to demolisish the crown face. It was a right mess!

cos they have changed the chamber shape and not for the better, lower CR but a chamber shape, more likely to det in the 1st place

with turbos it's the fueling/timing you need to worry about, spend the money there

Offset bushing seems to be alright on my car ;) and it is a proven way to lower the CR without taking meat off the piston crowns,it could of been worse, they could of used stacked headgaskets instead :thumbd:

Anyway i ain't going to disagree about using pukka forge pistons on turbo applications cos that is without doubt the best and safest way for a turboed motor.

how do you do the fueling and ignition on cheap "DIY" turbo/charger conversions, for aftermarket stuff on the 20Vt they are talkin about 2k systems. are you resricted to G60 management? are there any stock turbo systems which use MAP and knock sensors (does the G60?)??

is a simple chip/remap an option on cars without forced induction as stock to allow them to cope with positive intake pressure?

got to agree with vwturbo there,i had my head off after 35,000 converted engine miles, the said engine has had offset bushing done and there was nothing wrong with my pistons or anything else for that matter.
the original turbo technics converted cars are a far cry from what stealth ended up producing.its all a question of setup.

does the G60 have knock sensor and MAP sensors? or is it air flow meter?

does anyone know off hand what tsr performance do for management on the turbo kits they supply for the 1.4/1.6 polo engines, its 2500 fitted so not exactly budget.....

i wanna put a supercharger on a 1.6 polo engine, its got MAP and knock sensors so i wanna use them. what management can i use?

It has a knock sensor and a MAP sensor. Have a look at www.snstuning.com for info, in the "DIY" section. I'm going to give it a go, as soon as I have a spare 8v Gti to lay up in the garage for a few days while I arse about with it.....
