I thought the car would have sounded louder inside. What is the deal with the gearbox? Is there flappy paddles behind the steering wheel?

The guy had such awesome skills.

Certainly looks like a full sequential set-up.

    Great finds Ali.

I've got a Classic Ford article on it (Nov 2005).

Says it's a six-speed seqential, but with an electromagnetic operated paddle shifter on the steering column. Gives no mfr and suggests 'D' of DJM Motorsport designed it. It's in a magnesium case

I was there , on that stage , at possibly the best known junction in Irish Rallying , the Actual "Gap" that the Moll's Gap stage is named after . It's the Square left , exitting between rock faces , near the very end of the stage . Absolutely awesome , 4 wheel drift at huge speed , had the Crowd on its feet . I'll never , ever forget the unbelievable commitment Colin displayed there , and he wasn't even being timed!

Which point on the video is the gap? I’ve seen a picture of the Escort at the gap but can’t seem to find…

It only allows a certain viewing time per day, before you have to register.

I watched it again last night and I think Molls Gap is the final corner of the stage, with spectators presumably walking in from there?

Has to be said, that vid is McRae gold. Loving the oversteer on the fall-away camber corners.

Had he got that Escort on the limit, or what?

Abso - freakin - lutely . Yeah , I had a think (oh , the pain....lol) and the Gap is the last corner , an uphill sharp left , drift on exit and out between the cliffs then . The road has been done after that and is practically a Dual carriageway ! That junction is genuinely the best known in Irish Tarmac rallying . There's 3 access roads , a restaurant and great viewing .

Just watched all the other vids - great viewing.

After watching the 1st vid again, it's hard to imagine going any quicker, even with 4wd!
