off to buy a caddy this weekend , as i have never owened one before can any one tell me what to look out for,its a 1989 1600 petrol regards kevin
oh why don't you check out here?click me! the bed is a good palce to start-mines f*cked! needs chopping out, the B pillars are a source of water intake, as is the rear window then the usual mk1 stuff up front(being based on the mk1 they share the same problems) if it has been a builders wagon it would have been abused, you see how much it has been banged about and rusty. get the petrol over the diesel (it has no power!!!)
Places to look at are, the a c pillars, they will always have rust, just check its not to bad, check for water behind the seats, not a serious problem, but check for rust holes, the engine is the same as a Mk2 Driver, but with a 4 speed box, pretty bullet proof really, check the bed, depending on what you want it for depends on how picky you want to be about the condition. The bed can be replaced, but its not easy. How much are you paying for it as my mate is selling a k reg minter. have a look on www.vwcaddyforum.com
hi axl i have seen your mates localy, white one? this one is a 1989 1600 with a five speed box fitted ,12months ticket, looks ok but as i said wanted to no where the bad points were so i could check it out, it only a few hundred quid so will have to look a bit closer, just fancied a bit of a new project. regards kevin
