wat are the chances that a g60 could beat a calibra 4x4 turbo? both completly standard, ive heard that those clibras are 204bhp standard ond 0-60 between 5.8 and 6.2, corrado g60 is only 160bhp and 0-60 in about 7.8 or more, my bro has a g60 and i'm gonna get a cally turbo as well as my golf, can insure it under my moms name!! wat are your guys views on this?

ur golf if it's a vr6, will beat ur brothers g60 and is a sweet car, so why u want a cally turbo as well?
they aint very tuneable apparently and look dog awful
    60's around 6.2, a 'rado vr6 is around 6.5-6.7

indeed, but performance stats are almost impressive considering so much weight over the corrado, has less bhp/ton but is quicker.

and being 4x4 and having near identical front weight distribution as corrado which is regarded as one of the best handling fwd cars, it should handle ok too.

    but it's a vauxhall! :p

well if i can just wade through this see of ignorant bias....

the calibra turbo is a gorgeous looking motor - along with the corrado it is one of the few cars from the 90's that still looks bang up to date, and looks great. Subtle, nice lines, great look.

the calibra turbo is a quick car - compare it's performance to a std escort cossie and you will probably be impressed.

yes the transfer boxes can be trouble - you need to replace tyres as a set of four to avoid knackering it - but it's based on cavalier underpinnings so many of the parts are cheap.

Sorry you must have made a mistake. Cast your eyes on this
If you can't be bothered to look it gives you 320bhp(average) for 860. Let me know when you can get such a big power hike for that little money on another vehicle.

it's a very fast very nice to drive comfortable vauxhall

and the only thing VW have ever made that looks better is the Corrado IMO

blind ignorant bias is all very well - but a std vr6 corrado is not gonna get near a calibra turbo...

calibras always rust round the rear wheelarches - you'll do well to find one that hasn't. my old man had one and it just rusted everywhere [xx(] couldn't fault the XE engine though.
if you get one make sure it's had the coscast head or it will go porous and the results will be nasty.

Transfer boxes put me off, people can name their price for 2nd hand ones!

Quick car deffinitely but by no means bullet proof!

Only early calibra's rust. Late facelift ones are galvanised. They dont only have 204ish bhp but about the same amount of torque that comes in at 2500rpm aswell!!!! Do 0-60 in low 6's and will pull right up to 150mph no trouble with the getrag 6 speed box they come with. The 4-wheel drive messes up when peeps dont change the transmisson temp bulb in the transfer box. When looked after, this car is most deffo faster than a corrado g60 and will race vr6's with no trouble. And they are very, very tunable, as Golf1.6cl stated. So it mite not be a dub but, come on guys, you have to appreciate a good performance car when you see one. Who questions cossie power here? They are unreliable and troublesome too but still a good performance car.
