Hi, this is my first post at this great forum.
My boys and I race our 84 MK1 on a 1/4 mile oval, and for next year we will install the GX 1780 engine with the hydraulic cam 8 v head. We need to run it at 4500rpm off the coner to about 6300rpm with pull on the straight in second gear. ( last year we ran a tired 1715 in third gear at 4500 rpm, I can hardly wait to run a better engine this year ).

I am looking for folks who have actually run a cam that will suit me needs as the rpm range. Please do not rely on just somebodies advertsment only.
My questions are, 260, 270, or 280 degree cam???
and is it worth the time and effort to remove the head and shave , and or spend time hand porting the head.
We have a great time racing, and I will post some photos when I figure out how, and thanks for the help.
