    Hi folks,

My wife's Mk5 boot lock has stopped working. Cannot open boot from outside. I have replaced boot lock actuator and micro switch that is attached to handle and the lock is still dead. I have had the rubber sleeve off where wiring leads from car into boot lid and nothing stood out like broken wires etc. Is there a fuse I'm not aware of??

I'm stuck now what to do now. Thought I'd post here before taking it to auto electrician.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Paul

Switch and lock are controlled by J393 - Convenience system central control unit. Those two could be rear defrost, in that case no connection with boot lock.

Garage has said it’s a body control module that needs replacing. He said it has to be a new one and costs £600! He said it needs to be coded and that’s why I can’t have a used one. I can buy a used one on eBay for £25!!

Any fault codes stored in the module?

The back street garage didn't use vagcom. They found the fault through trial and error.

VW main dealer said they will be using diagnostics before they do anything so I'll let you know if they give us a fault code.
